The ten community-based organizations that anchor the Rio Grande Valley Equal Voice Network are: the Brownsville Community Health Clinic and Proyecto Juan Diego from the Brownsville area; the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas; the South Texas Adult Resource and Training Center (The START Center) from San Benito; Proyecto Libertad and Movimiento del Valle para los Derechos Humanos (Harlingen, Brownsville and Port Isabel); Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (Brownsville, Weslaco, Edinburg); A Resource in Serving Equality (ARISE) (Alamo and Pharr); La Union del Pueblo Entero—LUPE (San Juan, Mercedes, Pharr, and Alton); Proyecto Azteca (San Juan); Texas Organizing Project (Hidalgo County); and the South Texas Civil Rights Project (Alamo). A full-time "network weaver" was hired in October 0f 2009 to coordinate the good work of the network.
The Network has enjoyed a close collaboration with IDRA (Intercultural Development Research Association), who, although based in San Antonio, have themselves often "tasted of the water of the Rio Grande. . ."
